These cables were designed to fit the Define XL case to meet up at a Fan control Module of your choosing. 3 & 4 Pin motherboard or Module headers cables are backwards compatible. A 4-Pin cable can supply power to 5V & 12V fans, without damaging the fan. The 3-Pin cables with the missing pin is where the 12V wire would have been.
